Taliban announce new government for Afghanistan
The Afghan Taliban announced the formation of a new government in Afghanistan, naming the prime minister and cabinet.
During a news conference in the Afghan capital, Kabul, Zabihullah Mujahid said that Muhammad Hassan Akhund would be the caretaker Prime Minister of Afghanistan.
He said that Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar would be the Deputy Prime Minister Muhammad Hassan Akhund in the interim government.
The Taliban spokesman added that Mullah Mohammad Yaqub, the son of Taliban founder Amir Mullah Mohammad Omar and head of our military operations, has been appointed interim defense minister.
He said that in the Afghan government, Sirajuddin Haqqani has been given the responsibility of the interior ministry while the foreign ministry has been handed over to Maulvi Amir Khan Mottaki.
Zabihullah Mujahid also said that Mullah Hidayatullah Badri would be the Finance Minister and Shaykhullah Munir would be the Education Minister in the new Afghan government.
He said that Khalil-ur-Rehman Haqqani would be the Minister for Refugees while Qari Fasihuddin would be the Army Chief.
