The Sindh government has made a significant move regarding the case of young Karachi businessman Mir Raza’s death.

The Sindh cabinet has resolved to initiate a judicial inquiry into the matter, and the provincial government has sent a letter to the Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court concerning this issue.

Previously, the police investigation into Mir Raza’s death had shown considerable advancement. Sources indicate that investigators acquired a mobile phone SIM card registered under the deceased’s name.

According to investigators, after completing biometric verification and other essential paperwork, the SIM was transferred and reissued in the name of Mir Raza’s mother.

The primary aim of this action is to access Mir Raza’s WhatsApp account and retrieve chat backup data to further the investigation.

Additionally, police have recovered several WhatsApp messages sent by Mir Raza to close friends, in which he reportedly expressed his significant financial and domestic challenges.

In the meantime, police have taken statements from a security guard at a nearby residential building, as well as the prayer leader, muezzin, and committee members of a local mosque.

The investigation committee has also compiled a comprehensive timeline detailing Mir Raza’s activities during the last 12 hours before his death. This timeline reveals that he was actively seeking investments and loans right up until the end of his life.

According to police reports, at approximately 5:45 PM on July 27, Mir Raza met with an individual on Shahrah-e-Faisal to discuss an investment ranging from Rs70 million to Rs80 million. However, around 8:15 PM, the individual called him to withdraw from the investment.

At about 7 PM, a bank notified Mir Raza that a loan of Rs100 million had been approved in his sister’s name.

Subsequently, after additional meetings on Tipu Sultan Road and a late-night meal with a friend at a kebab house, Mir Raza continued to reach out to various individuals regarding his financial issues.

Pakistan’s security forces, in collaboration with police, have eliminated 49 terrorists during a series of intelligence-driven joint operations conducted throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, as reported by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The ISPR stated that these operations took place over the last few days as part of an ongoing counterterrorism initiative aimed at dismantling terrorist networks and addressing threats to peace and stability.

According to the military’s media wing, 12 terrorists affiliated with what it termed the Indian-sponsored Fitna Al Khwarij were neutralized during several intelligence-led operations in the Bannu, North Waziristan, Orakzai, and Khyber districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

A substantial cache of explosives, IED detonating devices, firearms, ammunition, and motorcycles was seized and destroyed during these operations, as per ISPR’s report.
In Balochistan, 37 terrorists linked to the Indian-sponsored Fitna Al Hindustan were killed in 10 intelligence-based operations carried out in the Mastung, Mach, Khuzdar, and Panjgur districts.

The security forces also confiscated and destroyed a considerable amount of weaponry, explosive drums, and remote-detonation devices during these operations, according to ISPR.

The military’s media wing indicated that sanitization operations were ongoing to eradicate any remaining terrorists in the affected areas.

“The Security Forces of Pakistan remain steadfast and determined in their commitment to safeguard the nation’s borders,” ISPR stated, adding that the counterterrorism campaign under Azm-e-Istehkam, which has been endorsed by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, will proceed vigorously.

ISPR emphasized that this campaign will persist until the threat posed by what it describes as foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism is completely eradicated from the country.

Senate passes the Defence Forces Act 2026 and NCA Act amendments after NA approval https://newsbreaktv.com/senate-passes-defence-forces-act/ Fri, 21 Aug 2026 07:05:45 +0000 https://newsbreaktv.com/?p=12687

On Thursday, the National Assembly (NA) and Senate approved the National Command Authority (Amendment) Bill 2026 and the Defence Forces Act 2026 with a majority vote, despite the opposition’s boycott of the voting process and their subsequent walkout in protest.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attended the session and, upon his arrival, approached the opposition benches to greet NA opposition leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai, along with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Barrister Gohar, Asad Qaiser, and Aamir Dogar.

The government had previously introduced the bills as part of a supplementary agenda, leading to their presentation for approval in the House. The Defence Act, which became effective retroactively on November 13, 2025, established the Defence Forces Headquarters, designated as the central command for the armed forces.

According to the legislation, the Defence Headquarters would serve as the senior military advisor to the prime minister on issues concerning national security, defense, and the armed forces.

The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) would hold operational command and control over the armed forces and would be accountable to the federal government regarding such command and control.

The legislation granted the CDF the necessary authority for multi-domain integration, operational coordination, liaison, and the joint management and oversight of armed forces matters.

Additionally, the CDF would possess the authority under relevant laws to retire, release, or dismiss personnel, with the exception of those appointed under Article 243 of the Constitution. The CDF would also have the ability to approve or deny resignations, retain personnel in service, and modify the retirement age or the prescribed term of service for individuals.

Furthermore, the Act empowered the CDF to exercise additional powers and fulfill duties as specified by the federal government.

The federal government is responsible for creating rules and regulations to enforce the Act, while the CDF is authorized to issue directives and orders to implement its provisions.

The legislation also stipulated that the president could address challenges arising from the execution of the Act or any discrepancies between its provisions and existing laws.

The National Assembly approved the National Command Authority (Amendment) Bill 2026, which took effect retroactively from November 27, 2025. This amendment replaced references to the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee in the Act with those of the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces.

On Thursday, the Senate unanimously approved the Defence Forces of Pakistan Amendment Bill 2026 and the National Command Authority Amendment Bill 2026, despite significant opposition from lawmakers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Subsequently, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif introduced the bills in the upper house, where both pieces of legislation were passed unanimously.

Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas raised concerns regarding the process of introducing the bills and questioned the urgency of the legislation.

“What is the emergency? Is this the proper way to conduct legislation?” he inquired.

Abbas mentioned that he had only recently received a copy of the bill and urged the Senate Chairman to allow lawmakers sufficient time to review it.

He declared that the opposition would stage a protest and boycott the House.

Following this, PTI lawmakers stood up and exited the chamber.

Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar defended the government’s actions, stating that parliamentary rules permitted the introduction of supplementary legislation.

Tarar challenged the need for further discussion on the amendment.

“Tell me, what mathematical formula necessitates our sitting down to discuss?” the law minister remarked.

He noted that the three armed forces had maintained the same level of coordination during Marka-e-Haq, which he claimed led to Pakistan’s success.

He further stated that the legislation had already been approved by the NA after lawmakers had thoroughly reviewed it “word by word.”

The opposition had objected to the supplementary agenda, with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) lawmaker Aliya Kamran arguing that the opposition had not received copies of the legislation, prompting the law minister to tell lawmakers to “learn to make use of technology”, saying the bills were available on members’ tablets.

Achakzai said lawmakers needed time to examine the proposed legislation. “We are members of this parliament. We want legislation to be carried out,” Achakzai said. “Bring the bills to us. Our colleagues will read them and give their views. At least give us two or three days so that they can be debated.”

He also called for a briefing on Pakistan’s foreign policy and regional developments, referring to US President Donald Trump’s reported warning against countries maintaining economic ties with Iran. “Brief us on what is happening,” Achakzai said.

Turning to PTI founder Imran Khan, Achakzai said, “You have made the founder of the PTI an issue of the heavens. Even the worst criminal has the right to have his health taken care of.”

The opposition benches staged a boycott of the voting process and walked out of the National Assembly in protest.

SC turns down govt plea challenging Imran Khan’s hospital transfer order https://newsbreaktv.com/sc-turns-down-govt-plea/ Thu, 20 Aug 2026 11:03:24 +0000 https://newsbreaktv.com/?p=12678

The Supreme Court has dismissed the government’s review petition that challenged the ruling concerning Imran Khan’s transfer to a hospital, following objections raised by the Registrar’s Office.

Sources indicate that the Registrar’s Office of the Supreme Court had flagged issues with the government’s review petition the previous day.

One of the objections noted was that the petition was submitted without the necessary complete paper books. The government is anticipated to resubmit the review petition after resolving these issues.

The petition was filed a day earlier by the chief commissioner of Islamabad through the advocate general of Islamabad, requesting a review of the Supreme Court’s interim order from August 18.

The government contended that the order mandating Imran Khan’s transfer to the hospital exceeded the court’s jurisdiction and thus warranted reconsideration.

As stated in the petition, Imran Khan received a three-year prison sentence from an additional sessions judge on August 5, 2023. He subsequently appealed the conviction to the Islamabad High Court.

During the legal proceedings, Imran Khan requested permission under Section 561-A of the Code of Criminal Procedure to be moved to Shifa International Hospital for medical treatment. However, the Islamabad High Court denied this request on March 12, 2026, leading to an appeal to the Supreme Court.

The federal government argued that the law mandates government approval and action via the Inspector General of Prisons in specific instances where a prisoner requires medical treatment outside of jail.

Additionally, it asserted that prisoners who are transferred to hospitals must remain under police supervision.

The petition referenced Rule 197 of the Pakistan Prison Rules 1978, which outlines the procedure for transferring a prisoner from jail to a hospital.

Moreover, the government cited Article 10-A of the Constitution, which ensures the right to a fair trial and due process.

It asserted that this issue was presented to the Supreme Court for the first time and that appropriate notifications had not been sent to the concerned parties prior to the issuance of the interim order.

The petition also mentioned that Imran Khan had undergone regular medical evaluations during his incarceration and had been treated by medical boards on multiple occasions.

The government contended that the court ought to have sought the advice of medical professionals before concluding whether the health of the PTI founder had genuinely declined to a level that justified his transfer to a private hospital.
