New Zealand defeated Pakistan in the third One-Day International (ODI) on Friday by two wickets, as they chased 281 runs target in the 48th over to win the series.

New Zealand’s opener Devon Conway, skipper Kane Williamson and Glenn Phillips scored half-centuries to help the visitors chase the target.

Phillips counterattacked after a collapse and carried New Zealand over the line with 11 balls to spare. They rounded off their tour with a 2-1 victory, their first ODI series win on the subcontinent in 15 years.

New Zealand reached 281-8 in reply to Pakistan’s 280-9.

New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 79 runs on Wednesday, to win the second One-Day International (ODI) and level the three-match series 1-1.

Conway hit 13 boundaries and a six off 92 balls, his second hundred in one-day internationals.

His stand with Williamson is a record against Pakistan, beating the 159 set in Wellington by Williamson and Martin Guptill in 2016.

Opting to bat first, New Zealand posted a target of 261 runs before bowling out Pakistan for 182 runs in 43 overs, with skipper Tim Southee and Ish Sodhi claiming two wickets, while every other Kiwi bowler took a scalp each.

Spinner Mohammad Nawaz took four wickets to help Pakistan restrict New Zealand to 261 all out on Wednesday after opener Devon Conway hit a century in the second day-night international in Karachi.

Nawaz finished with 4-38 as New Zealand slumped from a strong 183 for one in 29.5 overs to 206-6, losing five wickets for 23 runs in the space of 40 deliveries.

Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid said that the tour of New Zealand has been cancelled under a conspiracy, there was full security for the New Zealand team including commandos, he also offered the New Zealand team to hold the match without spectators.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid said that the Prime Minister had assured security to his New Zealand counterpart.

Sheikh Rashid said that we have not received any threat, it is not appropriate to name the conspirators, we are a responsible country.

The Home Minister said that Pakistan’s efforts for peace were sabotaged and wanted to make Pakistan a scapegoat with gloved hands.

Sheikh Rashid said that the United States withdrew from Afghanistan by agreement, Afghanistan cannot become Scandinavia in 17 days.

He said that there was no failure of the Home Ministry, four months security team inspected and approved, none of our institutions had any threat, Indian media is spewing poison against us.

The Home Minister said that the arrangements for the England team are complete, the decision is up to them, the English team came to Pakistan, they will welcome him, there is no security problem for cricket in Pakistan.

PCB chairman Rameez Raja said it is disappointing to end the series unilaterally due to security threats, especially when nothing was said about the threat.
