According to details, Nepra has introduced new electricity tariffs starting from July 1. Electricity bills for residential consumers will have fixed charges of Rs 200-1000 per month based on monthly consumption. The increase is up to 300 percent for commercial and 355 percent for industrial consumers.
200 to 1000 rupees per month fixed charges imposed on domestic consumers, 300 percent increase in fixed charges on commercial consumers, and up to 355 percent on industrial use.
This will help Discos increase revenue through fixed charges. Domestic consumers using 301-400 units per month will pay Rs 200 per month from July 1, 2024. Those using 401-500 units will pay Rs 400, and consumers using 501-600 units will pay Rs 600.
Residential users using 601-700 units will pay Rs 800 per month. Those using more than 700 units will pay fixed charges of Rs 1000 per month.
Residential customers using TOU (Time of Use) meters will also pay Rs 1000 per month.
Commercial customers with loads less than 5 KW will pay Rs 1000 per month. However, those with a load of 5 KW or more will now pay Rs 2,000, up from Rs 500, representing a 300 percent increase.
Under TOU metering, industrial consumers using up to 25 KW in the B1 category will pay Rs 1000. B2 category customers will see a 300% increase, paying Rs 2000 instead of Rs 500 per month.
B3 category industrial consumers using 5,000 KW will pay Rs 2000, a 335% increase from Rs 460 per month. All B4 category users will experience a 355% increase, paying Rs 2000 per month up from Rs 440.
