IHC gives order to remove Asad Durrani’s name from ECL

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered the removal of Lieutenant General (retd) Asad Durrani from the ECL.

Hearing the petition to remove the name of Lieutenant General (retd) Asad Durrani from the ECL, Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court Athar Minallah ruled on the case after hearing the parties.

The high court in its order said that Asad Durrani has the same rights as the ordinary citizens as given in the constitution. Looking at the entire record, no inquiry is pending against Asad Durrani at present.

The Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court said that like every ordinary citizen, the three-star retired general also has rights, there is no reason to put his name in the ECL.

Chief Justice Athar Minallah said that it was said that an inquiry was going on and therefore his name was in the ECL. According to records, no inquiry is going on at present.

Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Athar Minallah said that there was no need to call anyone, according to records there was no fresh inquiry against Asad Durrani, there was no justification to keep his name in ECL.
