PPP challenges Chairman Senate polls in Islamabad High Court

PPP challenges election of Senate chairman in Islamabad High Court. Farooq H Naik filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court on behalf of Senate Chairman candidate Yousuf Raza Gilani.

The petition filed by the PPP in the Islamabad High Court said that the rejected votes of Yousuf Raza Gilani should be accepted and he should be declared the chairman of the Senate.The petition states that 7 votes of Yousuf Raza Gilani were rejected illegally.

Yousuf Raza Gilani requested in the petition that the rejection of seven votes be declared null and void.

it is pertinent to mention that Yousuf Raza Gilani lost the election of Chairman Senate after 7 votes were rejected. Yousuf Raza Gilani got 42 votes.

There are more opposition senators in the upper house of parliament than the ruling coalition, but opposition candidate Yousuf Raza Gilani lost the election.
