Following the conclusion of the International Monetary Fund’s visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has issued a directive to the Privatisation Commission to ensure the privatisation of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is completed by June.
Initially set for October, the government now aims to hasten the process at the behest of the IMF, planning to transfer ownership of the national flag carrier by June.
Meanwhile, the commission has decided to seek the expertise of the American National Aviation Authority for a thorough security audit, aiming to reopen routes to the United States.
In pursuit of this goal, an American delegation is anticipated to visit Pakistan in March or April. It is worth noting that the prime minister had previously instructed the Ministries of Finance and Privatisation to finalize the bidding process.
