
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, on a picturesque Thursday, touched down in the vibrant city of Dushanbe, embarking on an important two-day official visit to the beautiful country of Tajikistan.
Upon his arrival at the bustling Dushanbe airport, he was greeted with a heartwarming reception by Tajik Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda, along with Deputy Foreign Minister Sharifzoda Farrukh Homiddin, Tajik Ambassador to Pakistan Yusuf Sharifzoda, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Tajikistan Muhammad Saeed Sarwar.
Accompanying the Prime Minister on this significant journey are Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, and the Special Assistant, Syed Tariq Fatemi.
During this visit of diplomatic importance, PM Shehbaz Sharif is set to hold a crucial bilateral meeting with the esteemed Tajik President Emomali Rahmon. In the course of their discussions, they will delve into the cooperation between the two nations across a multitude of fields.
Additionally, the Prime Minister plans to extend his heartfelt gratitude to President Rahmon for Tajikistan’s unwavering support to Pakistan amidst the recent tensions that flared up in the South Asian region between India and Pakistan.
Adding further significance to his visit, he is also scheduled to participate in the prestigious International Conference on Glaciers’ Preservation-2025. During the conference, he intends to engage the participants with insightful discussions about the severe impacts of climate change on Pakistan and underscore Pakistan’s steadfast dedication to mitigating climate change effects while striving to preserve the world’s precious glaciers.
It is worth noting that during Prime Minister Sharif’s recent visit to Azerbaijan, President Ilham Aliyev announced an investment of $2 billion in Pakistan during a trilateral summit.
While addressing the summit, the PM had said that India wants to block Pakistan’s water, which will never be allowed to happen. He emphasised that water is Pakistan’s lifeline, and India’s threats to cut off water to Pakistan are absolutely unacceptable.
