The All Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association has boldly announced a comprehensive nationwide shutdown of fuel stations slated for March 4, as a powerful protest against the government’s controversial deregulation policy.
With heightened anticipation, the association has emphasized that a pivotal meeting with Federal Minister for Petroleum, Musadik Malik, is on the agenda to address their pressing concerns regarding the policy.
The dealers have issued a stern warning, declaring that if they are not adequately consulted, they will proceed with an indefinite closure of fuel stations starting from March 4. Raza Abbas, a prominent figure in the association’s central executive committee, expressed their readiness to back Musadik Malik in the implementation of the deregulation policy, but only if they are actively included in the conversation.
He stressed that deregulation should not be confined merely to petroleum prices but should ambitiously cover the entire oil sector. Furthermore, he demystified the association’s position, stating that they hold no affiliation with Abdul Sami Khan, the Chairman of the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association.
Raza Abbas confidently affirmed that the All Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association is officially registered with the Ministry of Commerce, whilst claiming that the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association’s registration has been revoked.
