Shahbaz Sharif had a long meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Army Chief General Asim Munir was also present. Both sides agreed to upgrade the China Pakistan Economic Corridor.
The two leaders confirmed the strong partnership between their countries, aiming to boost political, security, economic, and trade relations. They also discussed regional and global issues.
They agreed to advance development projects in the next phase of CPEC.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif assured that Chinese citizens, projects, and institutions in Pakistan will be kept safe. He said the government’s socio-economic agenda is inspired by China’s common prosperity concept.
President Xi Jinping hosted a dinner for the Prime Minister. Federal ministers and senior officials also attended.
The Prime Minister thanked President Xi Jinping for the warm welcome and recalled his visit to Pakistan in 2015.
