The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has announced an increase in electricity rates for Karachi consumers by Rs5.75 per unit, citing fuel cost adjustments for May and June 2024.
According to a notification issued by NEPRA, the electricity tariff has been raised by Rs2.59 per unit for May and Rs3.16 per unit for June under the monthly fuel cost adjustment mechanism.
The increased charges will be reflected in the electricity bills of Karachi consumers for October and November.
NEPRA clarified that the hike applies to all consumers except electric vehicle charging stations (EVCS) and lifeline consumers, with the additional charges separately itemised in the respective month’s bills.
NEPRA has also issued a detailed decision regarding this adjustment.
