Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan leader Mustafa Kamal has issued a heartfelt apology for his impetuous remarks against the judiciary.
Expressing profound regret over his statements, Kamal submitted a meticulously detailed affidavit in the Supreme Court Karachi Registry.
In this affidavit, Kamal emphasized his utmost respect and reverence for the esteemed judges of the Supreme Court, asserting that he could never conceive of undermining the authority and dignity of the judiciary.
He fervently apologized, without reservation, for all his statements regarding the judiciary, particularly highlighting his press conference on the 16th of May.
Kamal concluded his affidavit by earnestly seeking forgiveness from the honorable court and humbly placing himself at its mercy.
Senator Faisal Vawda, steadfastly refusing to tender an apology to the Supreme Court over his controversial remarks against the judiciary, firmly stated that he believes his criticism during the press conference was just and fair.
He earnestly requested the court to show restraint in proceeding with the contempt charges. Vawda reiterated that his criticism during the press conference was fair, asserting that both the establishment and the judiciary are vital pillars of the state.
Assuring the court of his respect, Vawda emphasized that his actions were never meant to disrespect the Supreme Court. He appealed earnestly to the court to withdraw the show-cause notice.
In addition, Vawda submitted the transcripts of speeches made by Rauf Hassan and Shehbaz Sharif as part of his defense.
The Supreme Court (SC) had earlier issued contempt of court notices to independent Senator Faisal Vawda and MQM-Pakistan MNA Mustafa Kamal for their anti-judiciary rhetoric. In response to the show-cause notice, Vawda clarified that his press conference was not intended to demean the judiciary, but rather to contribute to the nation’s betterment.
