MQM founder Altaf Hussain’s sister Saira Aslam dies in Karachi
The elder sister of MQM founder Altaf Hussain passed away in Karachi on Saturday.
Saira Aslam, also known as Saira Khatun, was rushed to Darul Sahat Hospital after her condition deteriorated. She reportedly died of a heart attack.
Family sources say Saira was 80 years old. A few days ago, she had knee surgery and was recovering at home.
On Friday, his condition worsened and she was taken back to Darul Sahat Hospital, where she breathed his last at around 2pm on Saturday.
Hearing the news of her death, her friends and family members rushed to the hospital. The family had not yet announced the time of the funeral prayer and the place where she would be buried.
She has been active in party politics since 1991, after Altaf Hussain’s self-imposed exile in Britain. However, she has been inactive since the MQM split into two factions in 2016: MQM London and MQM Pakistan.
MQM leader Farooq Sattar expressed grief over her death and offered condolences to all members of her family. He said that she would be remembered for his unparalleled services to the party.
