The celebrated Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane’s film, Sanam Teri Kasam, has ascended to blockbuster status during its re-release era.
Despite being slightly overshadowed by the recent debut of Chavva, the poignant and heart-wrenching love story, which originally graced the screens in 2016, continues to receive an overwhelming wave of affection from its devoted fans.
At present, Sanam Teri Kasam’s re-release stands a mere Rs 5 crore away from clinching the title of India’s highest-grossing re-release—a prestigious accolade currently held by the re-release of Tumbbad.
As per Sacnilk’s report, the film did benefit from Valentine’s Day to some extent, as shows have been significantly reduced due to Chhaava. It performed much better than all other movies, scoring approximately 1.10 crores net collection on its second Friday. Further, the Sacnilk report highlighted that the total collection of the film is approximately above Rs 27.60 crore after 8 days. Sacnilk believes that the re-release requires another less than Rs 5 crore more to become the biggest re-release grosser in India, beating last year’s blockbuster Tumbbad (32 crores net).
Sanam Teri Kasam was re-released in Indian cinemas on February 7, 2025, due to its popularity on OTT platforms. Sanam Teri Kasam’s first release in 2016 witnessed a lifetime collection of Rs 9.11 crore in India. Its worldwide grossing was Rs 16.03 crore
