Decision to impose lockdown in Karachi till August 8

The Sindh government has decided to impose lockdown to curb the spread of corona virus in Sindh, especially in Karachi.

A meeting of the Provincial Corona Task Force was held at the Chief Minister’s House in Karachi, which was chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Sindh, provincial ministers and parliamentary leaders. The participants were briefed on the situation of corona virus cases.

A meeting of the Sindh Corona Task Force has decided to impose more restrictions with concessions in some areas to curb the spread of Corona virus in Karachi. The sanctions will be effective till August 8.

It was decided at the meeting that government offices would be closed from next week and those who did not get vaccinated would not be paid after August 31.

It was decided in the meeting that the vaccination card of every person coming on the road will be checked, all the markets of the province will remain closed and inter-city transport will remain closed.

According to sources, it was decided in the meeting that some concessions would be given to the export sector, the export industry would remain open and all medical stores across the province would remain open.

It was informed in the meeting that the Sindh Home Department would issue a notification with details on all the decisions of the Corona Task Force meeting.

Addressing the meeting, the Sindh Chief Minister said that all the opposition MPAs, businessmen and doctors supported the decision of the Sindh government. On the situation of Corona virus, I took all the stakeholders into confidence.

He said that opposition members and businessmen were invited to the meeting of the Provincial Corona Task Force to take the stakeholders into confidence.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said that this is an epidemic, I want all of us to have a voice in this regard.

He said that he had met the Ulema from all over the province yesterday in which he was apprised of the current situation of Corona virus.

Sindh Health Secretary Dr. Kazim Jatoi told the meeting in a briefing that the diagnostic rate of corona virus has reached 13.7% in Sindh. A total of 45 corona patients died in the province yesterday.

The meeting was informed in the briefing that Corona diagnostic rate is 33% in East District of Karachi, 21% in Korangi, 20% in Central, 19% in West, 17% in South and Malir.

The briefing said that 469 corona patients had died in the last 29 days across the province, 323 patients who died were on 69 per cent ventilators, 96 patients who died or 20 per cent were not on ventilators. Of the 50 patients, 11% died at home.

It was informed in the briefing given in the meeting that so far 55,705 corona cases have been reported in Karachi South District, here 51,053 corona patients have recovered and 753 have died.

Doctors said in the briefing that the situation of corona virus is getting worse, the pressure on government hospitals is increasing.

The meeting was briefed that cases of corona virus were expected to increase after Eid, Delta variant is spreading rapidly in the province.
