Karachi: 9 killed in Baldia Town bomb blast
A horrific bomb blast in a truck near Mowach turn in Baldia Town area of Karachi killed 9 people and injured several others.
DIG South Javed Akbar Riaz has confirmed the deaths.Police, Rangers and a bomb disposal squad rushed to the scene as soon as the blast was reported.
The bomb disposal squad said after inspecting the scene that the blast was caused by a bomb. According to the Bomb Disposal Squad, several marks of bullets and nut bolts were found on the body of the truck which were used in the bomb.
According to police sources, the victim’s family was returning after attending a wedding party when they were bombed.
According to the Bomb Disposal Squad, the blast was caused by a locally made bomb.
SSP Kemari Fida Hussain Januri had initially termed the explosion of a cylinder in truck number KP2779.
According to the spokesperson of Edhi Foundation, the bodies of 7 persons were shifted to the Civil Hospital by their ambulances while the other 2 bodies were delivered by the ambulances of other agencies.
According to the spokesman, the number of injured is more than a dozen, of whom two are in critical condition and have been shifted to the Civil Hospital.
According to police, most of the dead belonged to the same community.
In-charge CTD Raja Umar Khattab visited the spot, while talking to media, said that the blast initially looked like a hand grenade, which exploded before falling into the vehicle.
He said that according to the preliminary investigation, the accused were riding a motorbike and the victim’s family was coming from a wedding.
