Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has emphatically stated that he has thoroughly rejected the proposed draft of the government. Now, the government is also denying the existence of such a draft.
Speaking to the media during his visit to PTI leader Asad Qaiser’s residence in Islamabad, Maulana Fazlur Rehman reiterated his complete rejection of the government’s proposed draft, deeming it utterly unacceptable. He questioned the authenticity of the draft supposedly presented by the government, as even the authorities now deny its existence.
Fazlur Rehman emphasized that he, along with his party members, has wholly rejected the proposed constitutional amendment draft, reiterating Asad Qaiser’s stance. He pointedly asked, ‘If it wasn’t their draft, then what was the document handed over to us?’
Adding further, Maulana Fazlur Rehman maintained that no one was given any acceptable draft. The document we received was unequivocally unacceptable.
The JUI chief stressed that supporting such a proposal would have been a grievous betrayal of the trust placed in them by the country and its citizens.
In a lighter moment, when a journalist inquired if the founder of PTI had provided any response, Maulana Fazlur Rehman simply smiled and replied, ‘I am not giving any answer either.’
