ISLAMABAD: Taliban flags hoisted at Jamia Hafsa, administration decided to take action
The administration has decided to take action against those responsible for planting Taliban flags at Hafsa University, adjacent to Islamabad’s famous Red Mosque.
According to the spokesman of the mosque, Khatib Lal Masjid and superintendent of Hafsa University Maulana Abdul Aziz Ghazi has also announced to hold a conference on implementation of Sharia and victory in Lal Masjid on Friday.
Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Hamza Shafqat said that such flags are not allowed to be hoisted and action will be taken according to law by removing these flags.
Hafiz Ehtesham, a spokesman for Islamabad’s Lal Masjid, shared photos and a statement with the media in which he said that the flags of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan were hoisted at Jamia Syeda Hafsa in Sector G-7-34, Islamabad.
He said that Maulana Abdul Aziz, superintendent of Hafsa University and Khatib of Lal Masjid, has also announced to hold a conference on implementation of Sharia and victory in Lal Masjid on Friday.
When contacted, Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Hamza Shafqat said, “We have received information about this and teams of Islamabad police and district administration have been sent to the spot.”
He said that hoisting of such flags could not be allowed under any circumstances so the flags would be taken down and legal action would be taken against those who hoisted them.
