IIran has unleashed a barrage of missiles targeting key locations throughout Israel. Among the areas hit were those near the bustling cities of Haifa and Tel Aviv.
The devastation has been profound, as medics and media outlets report that at least ten individuals have tragically lost their lives during this assault. New Line Even as the chaos unfolds, emergency services are working tirelessly amidst the smoke and debris to provide aid.
The onslaught unfolded after Israeli forces unleashed a barrage on civilian and critical energy infrastructure throughout Iran, sparking a massive blaze at the Shahran oil facility nestled in the heart of Tehran. The Israeli military announced that it specifically targeted locations linked to the Iranian regime’s controversial nuclear weapons project.
Israel’s Airports Authority says the Ben Gurion International Airport will remain closed to landings and takeoffs for a third day, and that it is working with the country’s airlines to bring back Israelis who are stranded abroad.
“All air crews and aircraft are ready for action as soon as this becomes possible, but this may take a long time, depending on the security situation,” it said.
“A decision on the return of flights to Israel will only be made when we know that it is safe.”
The army’s Home Front Command estimates it will take at least 24 hours to finish scouring the scene of the Iranian ballistic missile attack on Bat Yam for any survivors, according to Israeli media.
At least six people have been killed, nearly 200 wounded, and seven are missing after the attack that hit a residential building overnight in the city south of Tel Aviv.
Iran does not want its conflict with Israel to expand to neighbouring countries unless the situation is forced, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says.
Iran’s military response against Israel has been based on self-defence, he added.
Araghchi has reaffirmed the country’s stance on nuclear weapons, saying it is “our firm conviction not to possess a nuclear weapon”.
“Yet those who are willing to deprive Iran of our right to possess the nuclear programme for peaceful purposes, they have no right to do so,” he added.
According to Araghchi, Israel opposes diplomatic progress between Iran and the US.
“This is a crystal-clear matter. The Zionist entity is not willing to see us reaching an agreement or a diplomatic solution with the United States,” he added.
