Former Sindh Governor Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad declares that the present structure of Independent Power Producers (IPPs) is the most lethal poison for the Pakistani economy, and he insists that their records should be made public.
In a detailed consultation with former Caretaker Federal Minister Gohar Ejaz, Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad discussed the severe power crisis plaguing the country. He demanded stringent accountability for the IPPs.
Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad commended Gohar Ejaz’s efforts in highlighting the pressing issue of IPPs. Both leaders concurred that the energy crisis has fueled significant public unrest.
The former governor stressed that the records of IPPs must be disclosed publicly, and the practice of favoring a select few families under the pretense of business must cease.
Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad warned that unless the public’s distress over the energy crisis is addressed, the country could descend into chaos. He emphasized that electricity should be made more affordable, and consumers should only be billed for the power they actually use.
