In an unforeseen and dramatic turn of events, India has initiated drone strikes targeting several prominent Pakistani cities, as reported by the news quoting ISPR. These cities include Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Attock, Bahawalpur, and Karachi.
During a press briefing held on Thursday, the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, revealed that a civilian has tragically embraced martyrdom, with four soldiers sustaining injuries from the Indian drone assaults on Pakistani soil.
In response, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has suspended flight operations at numerous key airports nationwide. Airports in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Faisalabad, and Sialkot have been indefinitely closed.
The suspension has been formalized via a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by aviation authorities, alerting all airlines to the closure.
Flights initially destined for Lahore are now rerouted to Karachi Airport, including those from Jeddah, Dubai, Muscat, Sharjah, and Madinah.
As a cautionary step, both Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore and Sialkot Airport have been evacuated, according to sources. Furthermore, flight operations at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi have come to a halt. Until further notice, all scheduled flights at these airports remain canceled.
