Govt drops petrol bomb on consumers, Rs 5.40/lit hike in petrol prices
The federal government approved the increase in the prices of petroleum products after a summary sent by OGRA. The Ministry of Finance also issued a notification to change the prices of petroleum products.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Political Relations Shahbaz Gul has said that an increase of Rs 5.40 per liter in petrol price has been approved.
He said that an increase in the price of diesel by Rs 2.54 per liter has been approved.
Similarly, an increase of Rs 1.39 per liter in kerosene and Rs 1.27 per liter in light diesel has been approved.
After this approval, the new price of petrol will be 118 rupees 9 paise per liter, new price of diesel 116 rupees 53 paise per liter, new price of kerosene 87 rupees 14 paise per liter and new price of light diesel oil will be 84 rupees 67 paise per liter.
The new prices of petroleum products will be applicable from July 16.
Shahbaz Gul said that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) had proposed an increase in the price of petrol by Rs11.40 per liter.
He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided to provide maximum relief to the people contrary to the recommendations of OGRA.
