Govt confirms Shehbaz Sharif put on ECL

The Federal Cabinet, on the recommendation of the anti-graft watchdog, has put PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif’s name on the Exit Control List (ECL).

Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry, in a tweet, said that with the approval of the cabinet and completion of all legal formalities, the name of Shehbaz has been added to the ECL.

“The relevant record has been updated in this regard,” he added.

Minister for Interior Sheikh Rashid on Monday has said that the name of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president and opposition leader in National Assembly (NA) Shehbaz Sharif has been included in Exit Control List (ECL).

Holding a press conference, the minister said that a notification to this effect has been issued and the relevant departments have been informed about it accordingly.

PMLN filed a petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC) seeking contempt proceedings against concerned officials who allegedly did not allow Shehbaz Sharif to fly abroad.
