Leading Afghan female anchor who took first interview of Taliban leadership left Afghanistan

Leading Afghan anchor Beheshta Arghand also said goodbye to Afghanistan after the Taliban took complete control of the country.According to foreign media reports, Beheshta confirmed leaving the country with her family.

The news anchor said that like the rest of the people, she is also afraid of the Taliban. I am leaving now but one day it will definitely happen and I will return to my homeland.

“Like thousands of people, I am forced to leave Afghanistan because I have no other choice,” Beheshta Arghand said.

Beheshta, who works for Tolo News, interviewed Maulvi Abdul Haq Hamad, a senior Taliban official, in mid-August.

The interview made headlines around the world, as it was the first time in Afghanistan’s history that a Taliban member was seen sitting live on TV with a female presenter.
