At least eight Pakistan Army soldiers embraced martyrdom on Monday after a daring attempt by terrorists to infiltrate the heavily fortified cantonment area in Bannu was courageously foiled by vigilant security forces, the ISPR revealed in a press release today.
‘The determined attempt to breach the cantonment was effectively thwarted by the alert security personnel, compelling the terrorists to recklessly ram an explosive-laden vehicle into the perimeter wall of the cantonment,’ the statement elaborated.
It further detailed that the intense suicide blast led to the catastrophic collapse of a section of the wall and severely damaged the adjacent infrastructure, tragically resulting in the death of the eight valiant soldiers.
The ISPR further highlighted that Pakistani troops swiftly and decisively engaged the terrorists, resulting in the elimination of all ten assailants, thereby averting a potential major catastrophe and saving numerous innocent lives.
‘The gallant and selfless actions of the security forces stand as a testament to their unrelenting resolve in the face of terrorism,’ the ISPR affirmed.
The military’s media wing condemned the ‘heinous act of terrorism undertaken by the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group, known to operate from Afghanistan, which has repeatedly used Afghan soil to orchestrate attacks within Pakistan.’
‘Pakistan has consistently raised its grave concerns with the Interim Afghan Government, urging them to prevent the persistent use of their soil by terrorists and to take decisive action against such nefarious elements,’ the ISPR emphasized.
The statement concluded resolutely, declaring that the Pakistan Armed Forces will continue to staunchly defend the motherland and its people against the scourge of terrorism, and will implement all necessary measures deemed appropriate to counter these threats emanating from Afghanistan.
